¡Bienvenido a Tulum!
Take a wander with us around Tulum, a city that is becoming more and more popular with tourists and backpackers alike. Sitting within a stones throw away from Cancun (Well if you can throw pretty far that is, but you know what I mean!), a two hour bus ride will bring you to this pearl of the Riviera Maya.
Home to one of the most unique preserved ruins in the world, sat on the edge of a cliff overlooking a beautiful white sandy beach and the Caribbean ocean, the Tulum ruins are a real sight to behold!
This city is also split into two, whether it be living the high life in the luxurious resorts of the Zona Hotelera, spending the days relaxing on the pristine beaches, sipping cocktails & beers while eating out at some incredible restaurants. Then as the day comes to an end, find your perfect spot to watch the sunset as the chilled out beach bars transform into party bars!
The other side of the city is Tulum town, although not as pretty and perfect as the zona hotelera, this is the more authentic side of Tulum. With cheap but mouth-wateringly brilliant food (Some of the best tacos that I tasted in Mexico at that), and some cheaper range of hotels and hostels but still very close to all the main attractions, this is by far the best option for budget travellers!
Now for the main event, the mysterious cenotes! These incredible underwater sinkholes are crying out to be explored, with pristine blue waters and magnificent limestone rock formations, these sinkholes are the perfect place to take a dip and cool of from the beaming sun. There are numerous cenotes that are situated very close to Tulum so do not settle for just visiting one, as each and everyone of them are different!
Before you visit for yourself, here is a look from behind the lens..
