¡Bienvenido a Bacalar!
Take a wander with us around Bacalar, this tiny town close to the southern border is becoming a major backpacker haven for travellers heading to Belize.
A town filled with old fisherman's houses, small quaint eateries, the impressive San Felipe's fort that is now home to a museum of old pirate artifacts and of course, most importantly Laguna Bacalar! Also known as, the lake of seven colours, this extraordinary lagoon glistens in the intense sun and portrays a number of different colours from pristine blue to emerald green! Spend your days relaxing in a hammock or on a swing looking out over one of the most incredible places in Mexico! Whether you are swimming, snorkelling, scuba diving or kayaking, Bacalar will continue to wow you!
Not only does Bacalar have the infamous lagoon, but it is also very close to lots of cenotes! The Yucatan is home to many of these incredible underwater sinkholes, explore their deep hidden caves and swim in the crystal blue waters or even try your look on the rope swings! The lagoon is also home to the 185 ft deep Black cenote, take a boat trip out on the lake to find this phenomenon!
