¡Bienvenido a Valladolid!
Take a wander with us, around the beautiful pastel coloured streets of Valladolid.. As soon as we stepped off the bus, we just fell in love with everything that this city had to offer. Finally a touch of 'real' Mexico, the rich smells that float from street vendors stalls, the pastel colours of the crumbling colonial buildings, the old school cars slowly making their way over the cobbles, the vibrant sounds local performers in the plazas.. Vallodolid is a real treat for the senses!
You really can spend the majority of your time here wandering the cobbled streets, this is a place to just slow down, stroll around and enjoy your surroundings, although have your camera ready, you will want to capture every moment! Picture-perfect is an expression that is widely used within a lot of travel blogs to describe certain places, but in terms of describing an authentic Mexican setting, there is no place more worthy of this description than Vallodolid itself.
Now Vallodolid isn't just cobbled streets and colonial buildings, there is a lot more to see here! The most enchanting being, visiting the cenotes! These incredible underwater sink holes are dotted throughout Mexico, but our favourites are right here in the Yucatan!
Gaze at the charming La Catedral de San Gervasio, sip coffee and eat tacos in the mercado, while the entertainment rolls in for the night in the main plaza.
Take a collectivo with the locals and make your way to the nearby Mayan ruins of Ek Balam & explore one of the Seven Wonders of the World, the mighty Chichen Itza..
Valladolid really is a photographers dream, and we fell head over heals in love with the jewel of the Yucatan!
Before you visit for yourself, here is a look from behind the lens..
